Phsing Scam Report

Above is an e-mail phsing ploy that was send to my e-mail Inbox in an attempt to gain my sensitive personal identification information.  I don’t even have an account with Chase Bank, but the scam artist doesn’t care about that fact.  They’re making a blanket attempt at getting any one’s information that is a customer of Chase.  These fake e-mails are sent to thousands of prospects in an attempt to gain as many victims as possible from the mailing list they’re using.  Reputable businesses don’t do business this way, it would make their customers venerable to all kinds of scam ploys, and negate any trust the public has in their organizations.

Once you click on the link that’s provided in the fake e-mail you will be taken to this Web page, or, a Web page of this same nature.  At this time you can just dream up a User ID and Password and enter them into the login boxes, and they’ll be excepted because the ploy is to get the information from you, so what ever you enter is presumed to be correct.  You don’t even have to be a customer of the bank or whatever type of organization is being portrayed by the fake e-mail; it will still accept the false information as being correct that you entered into it.

This is the Web page I was taken to after I entered the made up login information, and entered it into the login boxes and clicked the submit button.  I made up credit card information and entered it into this page without success, due to the quick instantaneous credit card number check this Web page did on the fake credit card number, I entered into the “Credit or debt card number” box.  It actually verified the authenticity of the credit card number; --they want to keep you honest. Can you believe that, it actually deserved a chuckle from me?  You can tell this isn’t a secure Web page, because there would be an image of a little yellow pad lock in the bottom border of the browser you are viewing the Web page, you’re in.  The fake Web page you’re in has an image of a little pad lock in it; look after the bold print in the upper portion of the Web page that says “All Screens are secure.” Please don’t fall for that, the image must be in the bottom border of the browser you’re in.

If you notice the bottom browser border of the above illustration, you see the word “Done”, to the left portion of the border with the blue “e” to the left of it.  On the right portion of the bottom border you see an image with red in it, next the word “Internet,” You should also see the little yellow pad lock in that same border, if that was a “SLL connection” (Secure connection). That Web page isn’t secure and your information can be captured and viewed by other people during the transmission of the information you entered into it.
